Award Winning History
The Cooper-Molera Adobe, Munras Avenue at Alvarado Street, downtown Monterey, California
In partnership with Washington DC-based National Trust for Historic Preservation, this is the re-imagining of historic commercial buildings at the Cooper-Molera Adobe historic site in the heart of downtown Monterey. It is located next door to Foothill’s Uptown Monterey Trader Joe’s Center. The Trust and Foothill are operating the Cooper-Molera Adobe in a “shared-use” model – the Trust operates three of the buildings in an ongoing interpretive program, with Foothill having returned the remainder of the buildings to commercial uses: restaurant and bar, bakery café, and wedding / corporate / cultural event center. Winner of the California Preservation Foundation 2019 award for Design Excellence.
